A versatile light commercial vehicle for different businesses
As I leave our house to go to work, I’m greeted by the sari-sari store out front owned by our neighbor. At the corner of our street, I pass by the water refilling station that’s patronized by homeowners in and outside of our village. A few more steps away is a talipapa or a makeshift market that my family frequents for quick grocery items. Along the main avenue, there’s a construction shop we purchase hardware items from, a courier service that recently opened, and even a family-owned store selling medical supplies.
In the Philippines, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises or MSMEs account for more than 99% of the total number of business establishments. It comes as no surprise, then, that there’s one at every corner. MSMEs also generate more than 62% of the country’s total employment, making them a key growth factor. Supporting MSMEs would mean supporting the families that run them, and the communities in which they operate.
To meet the mobility needs of Filipino MSME owners, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) launched the All-New Lite Ace, a reinvention of the Lite Ace Filipinos know from the 1990s, as a reliable and versatile work horse that’s uniquely Toyota. The light commercial vehicle comes in four variants – the panel van, pickup, FX, and cargo. The panel van and pickup are now available at Toyota dealerships nationwide, while the FX and cargo are available for reservation.
If there’s anything Filipino business owners want from their work horses, it’s that they have to be reliable, practical, economical, and easy to maintain. After all, this vehicle will be their partner in growing their business, so they would benefit from one that will be with them for a long time. With the Lite Ace, MSME owners have a high-quality vehicle that’s light on the pocket and has the service support of more than 70 dealerships nationwide.
Owners of grocery stores, water delivery services, and logistics companies will find the panel van variant suitable for their businesses. With a payload capacity of 790 kg, the panel van can carry dry goods, parcels, and other items in its spacious interior. Its enclosed compartment protects the goods from rain and heat as well. And with its dual sliding doors, and back door, drivers can easily load and unload from both sides and the back of the vehicle. The width of the panel van is also ideal for delivering items in tight residential and market areas.
Meanwhile, MSMEs in the agriculture sector, construction, and food and beverage industries may benefit from the pickup variant of the Lite Ace. This is because the pickup variant has a dropside bed that’s ideal for carrying heavier loads. It has a payload capacity of 950 kg to support sacks of rice, and vegetables, as well as raw materials such as wood, concrete, and more. Loading and unloading is also made easy with the collapsible sides of the dropside bed.
Both Lite Ace variants have a seating capacity of two and run on a 1.5L 2NR-VE engine with Dual VVT-i capable of producing 98 PS of max output and 134 Nm of torque. This gives the vehicle ample output to carry its specified cargo load while maximizing fuel efficiency. It also has Electric Power Steering, PVC seats, and a manual dial airconditioning system for a more comfortable drive.
With the Lite Ace expected to be on the road daily, the Pickup has Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) while the Panel Van has both ABS and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). ABS slows down the vehicle during emergencies but also prevents wheels from locking up so drivers can steer away from the danger. VSC, on the other hand, helps stabilize the vehicle in the event that the driver understeers or oversteers when turning at curves.
The All-New Toyota Lite Ace is available at PHP570,000 for the pickup variant, PHP655,000 for the panel van variant, PHP699,000 for the cargo variant, and PHP727,000 for the FX variant.
